Bill Iyall Announces Plan to Retire
Cowlitz Indian Tribe Chairman: Bill Iyall Announces Plan to Retire as General Council Chair and C.O.O.
"Greetings. It is with mixed emotions that I am announcing I will retire from my position as General Council Chairman and COO, after serving 13 years in that capacity. The COVID-19 pandemic, amid this serious disease outbreak, is a major factor. I have a heart condition that requires extra caution and I must focus on my health. I am ready to start a new chapter in my life. There are still many details to work out, but I expect to retire at the end of August. I am very proud of the efforts of our dedicated and loyal staff at the government offices and ilani and am grateful for their commitment to working tirelessly serving our tribal community.
The health and well-being of the tribe remains our top priority. We continue to work together to keep members safe during this pandemic, continue essential services and find ways to support those most impacted."
