General Information:
The Cowlitz Indian Tribe (Tribe) has secured grant funding through the Washington Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO) and National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to procure materials and implement a fish passage barrier removal project on Ostrander Creek, a tributary to the Cowlitz River located in Cowlitz County near Kelso, Washington. The proposed restoration project will include the removal of a culvert and associated railroad prism on a decommissioned line, supply and install materials for a constructed riffle through the barrier removal footprint and place engineered log structures throughout the project site. This project will correct a full fish passage barrier and restore access to 13.85 miles of habitat for winter steelhead and coho salmon.
